New glass technology for thermoplastics

Johns Manville has developed a new engineered reactive glass fibre for improved performance in structural thermoplastic composites at its plant in Trnava, Slovakia.
Now available for testing in the in-mould caprolactam polymerization process, StarRov RXN886 maximises glass-matrix bonding, resulting in improvements in the strength, multi-axial impact, aging performance and dimensional stability of polyamide 6-based structural composites. It is suitable for a variety of processes, including TP-RTM, TP-RIM, TP-pultrusion, and TP-filament winding.
